Betway India Review: Why Betway Ceased Operations in India
On 1 October 2023, Betway withdrew from the Indian market. On its website, a message said they ‘regrettably elected to cease trading operations in India.’
This is likely because the new tax rules are applicable from 1 October 2023, where casino games, horse racing, and other online games must pay a 28% tax on the total face value.
Unlike Bet365, Betway has not given time to its customers to check and withdraw their balances.
That is because you can no longer log in and browse the site. There is no mention of any deadline either for withdrawals.
When you visit the site now, you get a message saying that have ceased trading in the region.
So, what do you do if you had a balance with Betway?

If you have a balance or have live bets in place, the best thing you can do is email the Betway team at enquiries@betway.com, along with your username.
I have done the same by asking for withdrawal details, balance, etc., and will update the detailed steps once I have a reply.

“But, what is ‘Flexi’ here?” we hear you ask.

Betway’s Flexi bonuses allow you to withdraw your cash balance whenever you want and work according to a principle Betway calls “Bonus to Cash Ratio” or BCR.
BCR is the percentage split between your bonus balance and total cash balance.
This means that when you have an active Flexi bonus and place a bet, a part of the bet goes from your bonus, and a part goes from your current cash balance.
Anything you win also equals your bonus and cash balance in the same ratio.

We recently received a message from Betway saying
‘Please note that your account will be closed and where balances are due, they will be paid out accordingly. Should you still need assistance, after 30 days has passed, please feel free to reach out to us again.’
This could mean that they are still in the process of paying out accounts, and you should get your money in a few days.
